John was born on November 21st, 1844 in Overton, Bradford Co., Pa...1 John's father was Henry Sherman and his mother was Elizabeth Thrasher. His paternal grandparents were Jacob Sherman and Elizabeth Williams. He had five brothers and five sisters, named Nelson, William, Moses, Andrew Washington, Edward, Catherine, Loretta, Vielene, Caroline and Anna. He was the fourth oldest of the eleven children. He had six half-brothers and a half-sister, named George, Daniel, Amos, Henry, Peter, Jacob and Mary. He died at the age of 36 on February 4th, 1881. He was buried in St. Pauls U.C.C.
