Johan Jurg Huntzinger 
Johan Jurg was born on July 16th, 1775.1 Johan Jurg's father was Bernard (George) Huntzinger and his mother was Eva Margaretha Reich. His paternal grandparents were Johann Georg Huntzinger and Maria Magdalena Schweitzer; his maternal grandparents were Matthias Matthew Reich and Anna Ava Schmidt. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Peter, Bernhard (Barney), Jacob, John, Solomon, Powel (Paul), Elizabeth, Catharina Elizabeth, Maria "Mary" and Christiana. He died at the age of 79 on February 20th, 1855 in Forks Twp., Sullivan Co., Pennsylvania, USA. He was buried in Unknown.1 1 General Notes

Lived for a while in Berwick, Pa. from where he moved to to the Genesee country in New York. Finding the country subject to fevers he returned to Berwick and from there to Sullivan Co., Pa. (From Streby's History of Cherry Township, 1903, page 37.) 1810 census shows him living in The Town of Hector, Seneca Co., New York. Census shows 3 males under age 10, 1 male age 11 to 15, 1 male 21 to 45 and 1 female under age 10, 2 female 11 to 15 and 1 female 21 to 45 (31010-12010). This was the Finger Lake region then called the "Genesee Country. The town of Hector was part of the Military Tract (land given by New York state to their Revolutionary War veterans) and many of the men promptly sold their lands cheaply. Hector is now part of Schuyler Co., N.Y. In 1819 he settled on Ringer Hill and and in 1823 he bought land for $3.00 an acre. He was among the earliest settlers in Cherry Township, Sullivan Co.. **He took up land near the southwestern corner of the present boundary of the township along the old turnpike.
