Maud Fitz Robert was born about 1120 in Gloucester, England.1 Maud Fitz Robert's father was Robert De Caen and her mother was Maud FitzHammon. Her paternal grandparents were Henry I "Beauclerc" King of England and Matilda Atheling Princess Scotland; her maternal grandparents were Robert Fitzhammon and Sibyl De Montgomery. She had two brothers and three sisters, named William, Philip Fitz Robert, Christian of, Mabel of and Hawise De Beaumont Of. She was the third youngest of the six children.
