Joseph Kirk was born on September 26th, 1869 in Calhoun Co., AL.1 Joseph Kirk's father was Napoleon Bonapart Spradley and his mother was Minerva Adalaide Kirby. His paternal grandparents were Michael Decalb Charles Spradley and Elizabeth Boone; his maternal grandparents were Joseph Luther Kirby and Malinda Melinda Taylor. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Thaddeus A., Taylor DeKalb, Lewis Napoleon, Flint Elmer, Panora, Mary, Rusia Elizabeth and Melinda Naomie. He was the oldest of the nine children. "Funeral services for J. K. Spradley, 62, Easonville merchant and
father of Joseph W. Spradley, of Anniston, were conducted at 3 o'clock
Monday afternoon, December 3, 1934, at the Easonville Methodist Church.
Mr. Spradley died Sunday night at his home following an illness of
several months. He was widely known in the Easonville section, having
operated a store there for a number of years.
As a member of the Methodist Church, Mr. Spradley was active in the
work of the congregation for many years. He served on the board of
stewards, was the church lay leader and taught a large class in the
Sunday School.
He will be missed in his community."
