Lewis Napoleon Spradley 
Lewis Napoleon was born on November 9th, 1881 in Calhoun Co., AL.1 Lewis Napoleon's father was Napoleon Bonapart Spradley and his mother was Minerva Adalaide Kirby. His paternal grandparents were Michael Decalb Charles Spradley and Elizabeth Boone; his maternal grandparents were Joseph Luther Kirby and Malinda Melinda Taylor. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Joseph Kirk, Thaddeus A., Taylor DeKalb, Flint Elmer, Panora, Mary, Rusia Elizabeth and Melinda Naomie. He was the fourth youngest of the nine children. He died at the age of 34 on February 19th, 1916 in St. Clair Co., AL. He was buried in Seddon Cemetery, Pell City, St. Clair Co., AL.1 1 General Notes

"DEATH OF LEWIS N. SPRADLEY
Lewis N. Spradley, who died at his home near Cropwell on February
19th, was thirty-four years of age. He was born in Calhoun County,
November 9th, 1881. His parents moved to Ashville in this county in 1887,
and he attended the Ashville High School at that place. Later he attended
school at Cropwelll, and in 1899 completed a course of study at the
Jacksonville Normal School. The following year he taught near Ragland. In
1901 he entered the employment of Jas. R. Roberson & Sons, and continued
in their employment for thirteen years. During the early part of the year
of 1915, he developed a serious illness and was confined to his bed for
about ten months before his death. In 1891 he joined the Methodist
Church, and at the time of his death was a member of that church at
Easonville.
Mr. Spradley was a good citizen, a consistent church member, a
follower of the Christ, and he never acted in any matter without first
considering the moral turpitude involved. In all his work he was
punctual, in all his transactions with men he was liberal, and in all his
friendship he was genuinely sincere. He loved all mankind, and was truly
charitable. During his long and painful illness, he was patient and
forbearing, cheerful and courageous. He died as he lived, with an
absolute faith in the future, and dictated his innermost feelings when he
suggested the inscription of his tomb: "He leadeth me beside the still
waters; He restoreth my soul."
Mr Spradley is survived by his father, three sisters and four
brothers, to all of whom Progress extends it deepest sympathies."
