His paternal grandparents were William Cain Rushing and Mary Ann Rushing. He had four brothers and five sisters, named William Jack, Herbert H., Eddie Oscar, Earnest J., Lavenia S., Alma P., Lenora L., Dona Carl and Lilla May. He was the fourth youngest of the ten children. He died at the age of 72 on August 13th, 1957 in Troy, Pike Co., AL. Grover C. Rushing Dies At Home
Grover Cleveland Rushing age 72 Rt. 4, Troy, died at his home early
today. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at Spring
Hill Baptist Church with Rev. O. H. King and Rev. Burney Enzor
officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. McGehee Funeral
Home in charge.
He is survived by the widow, Mrs. Lela Rushing, Troy, Rt. 4; six
sons, Grover M. Rushing and Rayford Rushing, Troy Rt. 2; Ezar Rushing,
Troy, Rt. 4; Homer E. Rushing, Brundidge, Rt. 1; Calvin C. Rushing,
Montgomery; Sidney O. Rushing, Troy, Rt. 4. Three daughters, Mrs. Bertie
Kelly, Troy; Mrs.Bertha Houton, Sanford and Mrs. Voncille Green,
Columbus, Ga. Twenty-four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren;
one brother, Earnest Rushing, Andalusia; three sisters, Mrs. Alma Green,
Troy Rt. 1; Mrs. Nora Price, Troy, Rt. 5 and Mrs. Lillie May Taylor, Troy.
