James Ezra was born on April 7th, 1914 in AL.1 James Ezra's father was Grover Cleveland Rushing and his mother was Leila Spivey. His paternal grandparents were Stephen McDonald Rushing and Martha Sylvester Edwards. He had six brothers and three sisters, named Grover McDonald, Willie Rayford, Jacob Herman, Homer Eugene, Calvin Cleveland, Living, Bertie Bea, Bertha Mae and Nellie Voncile.
