The following article appeared in The Troy Herald, Tuesday, 28 Jan 1918:
"Stephen Rushing, one of the best known citizens in this section
passed to his reward last Friday at his home six miles north of Troy,
after having reached the ripe old age of about 75 years.
Mr. Rushing is survived by his widow and six children, one child
having preceded him to the grave. His children are: Mrs. Gleenie Wilson,
Mrs. Jake Green, who died about a month ago, and Jack, Edd, Hub, Cleve
and Earnest Rushing.
The remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at Good Hope last
Saturday. The many friends of the family all over this section will
deeply sypathize with them in their bereavement."
Henry Rushing, Stephen's brother died just a few days later.
