Stephen McDonald Rushing 
Stephen McDonald was born on June 15th, 1846 in Pike Co., AL.1 Stephen McDonald's father was William Cain Rushing and his mother was Mary Ann Rushing. His paternal grandparents were Mathew Malachi Rushing and Elizabeth Thornhill. He had six brothers and five sisters, named Mathew M. (Mack), John Eager Howard, Thomas A., Joseph T., Solomon James, Henry Oscar, Elizabeth Pheebe, Mary Jane, Susannah, Lucinda S. and Pleasant F.. He was the fourth youngest of the twelve children. He had two half-sisters named Elizabeth and Minnie. He died at the age of 71 on January 25th, 1918 in Pike Co., AL. He was buried in Good Hope Church Cemetery, Pike Co., AL.1 1 General Notes

The following article appeared in The Troy Herald, Tuesday, 28 Jan 1918:
"Stephen Rushing, one of the best known citizens in this section
passed to his reward last Friday at his home six miles north of Troy,
after having reached the ripe old age of about 75 years.
Mr. Rushing is survived by his widow and six children, one child
having preceded him to the grave. His children are: Mrs. Gleenie Wilson,
Mrs. Jake Green, who died about a month ago, and Jack, Edd, Hub, Cleve
and Earnest Rushing.
The remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at Good Hope last
Saturday. The many friends of the family all over this section will
deeply sypathize with them in their bereavement."
Henry Rushing, Stephen's brother died just a few days later.
‌Stephen McDonald and Martha Sylvester were married in a religious ceremony before 1870 in AL.1 They had five sons and five daughters, named William Jack, Herbert H., Eddie Oscar, Grover Cleveland, Earnest J., Lavenia S., Alma P., Lenora L., Dona Carl and Lilla May.
