Pernemo C. Harding (Believed to be spelled Parmerio in Confederate
War Records which were handwritten) enlisted in the "University Greys" of
Oxford, Mississippi on April 21, 1861. The Greys were mustered into
Confederate service in May as Company A, 11th Mississippi Infantry
Regiment. The 11th became part of the Army of North. Virginia in June
1861. In March 1862, Fredericksburg was abandoned and the 11th
transferred to Richmond. The morning report for March 1862 says Pernemo
Harding was ill and left in the Fredericksburg Hospital when his regiment
withdrew. Listed as "presumed captured."
