Ferdinand S. was born on December 7th, 1837 in TN.1 Ferdinand S.'s father was Lewis G. Harding and his mother was Elizabeth Jane Yancey. His paternal grandparents were Mark Harding and Agnes Nancy Hode. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Alonzo Bruce, Parmenco Claylos, Phillip A., Lewis Parkinson, William Mark, Jonnie T., Martha H., Donzella Ann, Arribella Angidine and Dulca Bella Jane.
