Phillip A. was born about 1845 in MS.1 Phillip A.'s father was Lewis G. Harding and his mother was Elizabeth Jane Yancey. His paternal grandparents were Mark Harding and Agnes Nancy Hode. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Ferdinand S., Alonzo Bruce, Parmenco Claylos, Lewis Parkinson, William Mark, Jonnie T., Martha H., Donzella Ann, Arribella Angidine and Dulca Bella Jane.
