R. V. was born on April 11th, 1908 in Downsville, Union Parish, LA.1 R. V.'s father was John William Bridges and her mother was Stella Skains. Her paternal grandparents were William Bridges and Delila Jane Jacks; her maternal grandparents were Thomas A. Skains and Bertha Honeycutt. She had four brothers and six sisters, named Thomas Alvin, John William, Jr., Binford, Moody, Myrtle, Trudy S., Marzie Cordie, Foye, Neola Gray and Janie Ophilia. She was the fifth oldest of the eleven children. She had three half-brothers named Ocie Lafayette, Lonnie Howard and William Archie. She died at the age of 91 on January 21st, 2000 in LA.1 General Notes

first name spelled: Arvee. According to Janie Bridges, R. V.'s sister, R.
V. was nicknamed "Team" because she could do the work of a team of people.
