William CHANCELLOR, near this place, occurred the death of Mrs. Mary
BRIDGES, the oldest living lady in this county. She was 103 years old,

On 8 Sep 2002 I copied my Great Great Great Grandmother Mary's
headstones. She had two headstones there. One was erected recently; made
of granite with her name as well as her birth and death dates on it. It
is a flat headstone and only about three inches high. Her other
headstone, which appears to be made from sandstone or a type of cement,
is lying flat on the ground. It has fallen from its previous erect
position. Inscribed on it: IN MEMORY OF MARY BRIDGES BORN 1786 DIED AUG
31, 1890 AGE 104 ERECTED BY HER SON-IN-LAW WILLIAM CHANCELLOR NOT DEAD
BUT SLEEPETH. She is buried near her daughter Louisa Maria Bridges and
several other Chancellor(s). Ron Bridges.
