Janie Ophilia was born on October 5th, 1917 in Downsville, Union Parish, LA.1 Janie Ophilia's father was John William Bridges and her mother was Stella Skains. Her paternal grandparents were William Bridges and Delila Jane Jacks; her maternal grandparents were Thomas A. Skains and Bertha Honeycutt. She had four brothers and six sisters, named Thomas Alvin, John William, Jr., Binford, Moody, Myrtle, Trudy S., Marzie Cordie, R. V., Foye and Neola Gray. She was the third youngest of the eleven children. She had three half-brothers named Ocie Lafayette, Lonnie Howard and William Archie. She died at the age of 55 on August 7th, 1973 in Sterlington, LA.1 General Notes
