Robert Capet de Artois I was born in September 1216 in France.1 Robert Capet de Artois I's father was Louis VIII Capet the Lion King of France and his mother was Blanca de Castile. His paternal grandparents were Philippe II Capet Augustus King of France and Isabella de Hainault; his maternal grandparents were Alfonso VIII de Castile King of Castile and Eleanor Plantagenet. He was an only child. He died in Al-Mansura, on the Nile, Egypt.1 General Notes
