Matilda (Adelaide) the Empress was born on August 5th, 1102 in Winchester, England.1   Matilda (Adelaide) the Empress' father was Henry I Beauclerc King of England and her mother was Matilda (Edith) of Scotland Pss of Alba.  Her paternal grandparents were William II the Bastard Duke of Normandy and Matilda (Maud) de Flandre; her maternal grandparents were Malcolm III Caennmor King of Scots and Margaret the Exile of England. She had three half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Reginald FitzRoy, Robert de Caen "the Consul", Henry, Matilda (Maud), Elizabeth, Constance, Matilda and Matilda.  She died at the age of 67 on September 10th, 1169 in Notre Dame, Rouen, Seine-Maritime, Normandy.1
