Geoffrey V Plantagenet the Fair was born on August 24th, 1113 in Anjou, France.1 Geoffrey V Plantagenet the Fair's father was Fulk V "le Jeune" King of Jerusalem and his mother was Aremburga de Maine. His paternal grandparents were Fulk IV le Rechin Ct of Anjou and Bertrada de Montfort; his maternal grandparents were Helias de Maine Ct of Maine and Maud de Château-du-Loire. He had two sisters named Sybilla and Alice. He died at the age of 38 on September 7th, 1151 in Château-du-Loir, Eure-et-Loire, France.1 General Notes

The name Plantagenet, according to Rapin, came from when Fulk
the Great being stung from remorse for some wicked action, in
order to atone for it, went a pilgrimage to Jerusalem, and was
scourged before the Holy Sepulchre with broom twigs. Earlier
authorities say it was because Geoffrey bore a branch of yellow
broom (Planta-genistae) in his helm.
