Palatine was born in 1088 in of Blois, Loir-et-Cher, France.1 Palatine's father was Etienne-Henri "le Sage" Ct of Blois and his mother was Adela (Alice) de Normandy. His paternal grandparents were Theobald III de Champagne Ct of Champagne and Garsende von Maine; his maternal grandparents were William II the Bastard Duke of Normandy and Matilda (Maud) de Flandre. He had two brothers named William de Blois and Stephen. He had a half-sister named Emma.1 General Notes
