William was born on January 7th, 1809 in Little Mountain, Newberry County, South Carolina.1   William's father was Abram Boland and his mother was Eva Christina Sease.  His paternal grandparents were John (Johannes) Boland and Feltman; his maternal grandparents were John Mark Suss\Seas\Sease and Nancy Shirer. He had nine brothers and a sister, named Fredrick, Joseph, John Adam, Levi, John Mark, Ephriam Walter, Middleton, Ozro, Cedelle Edward and Catherine "Katie".  He was the oldest of the eleven children. He had a half-brother named John Adam.  He died at the age of 86 on September 3rd, 1895 in Big Creek, Calhoun County, Mississippi.1
