John Mark was born on January 26th, 1820 in Little Mountain, South Carolina.1   John Mark's father was Abram Boland and his mother was Eva Christina Sease.  His paternal grandparents were John (Johannes) Boland and Feltman; his maternal grandparents were John Mark Suss\Seas\Sease and Nancy Shirer. He had nine brothers and a sister, named William, Fredrick, Joseph, John Adam, Levi, Ephriam Walter, Middleton, Ozro, Cedelle Edward and Catherine "Katie".  He was the fifth youngest of the eleven children. He had a half-brother named John Adam.  He died at the age of 76 on June 30th, 1896 in Prosperity, South Carolina.  He was buried in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Pomaria, South Carolina.1 1
