Sarah was born on July 18th, 1812 in Danville, VT.¹ Sarah's father was John Rankin and her mother was Lois Whitcher. Her paternal grandparents were James Rankin and Margaret Witherspoon. She had six brothers and five sisters, named David, John, Asa, Edwin, Henry, Horatio, Marion, Abigail, Lois, Maria and Laura. She was the third youngest of the twelve children. She died at the age of 81 on August 6th, 1893 in Danville, VT.¹
