Henry was born on December 25th, 1814 in Danville, VT.¹ Henry's father was John Rankin and his mother was Lois Whitcher. His paternal grandparents were James Rankin and Margaret Witherspoon. He had five brothers and six sisters, named David, John, Asa, Edwin, Horatio, Marion, Abigail, Lois, Maria, Laura and Sarah. He was the second youngest of the twelve children. He died at 4 months old on April 29th, 1815 in Danville, VT.¹
