Marion was born on December 11th, 1791 in Barnet, VT.1   Marion's father was John Rankin and her mother was Lois Whitcher.  Her paternal grandparents were James Rankin and Margaret Witherspoon. She had six brothers and five sisters, named David, John, Asa, Edwin, Henry, Horatio, Abigail, Lois, Maria, Laura and Sarah.  She was the oldest of the twelve children.  She died at the age of 73 on July 31st, 1865 in Danville, VT.1

‌Marion and Samuel were married in a religious ceremony on November 28th, 1810.1
