John was born on June 24th, 1340 in Abbaye de St. Bavon, Ghent, Flandre-Orientale, Belgium.  John's father was Edward and his mother was Philippa D'Avesnes.  His paternal grandparents were Edward and Isabella "The Fair" Capet; his maternal grandparents were Willem III D'Avesnes and Jeanne De Valois. He had five brothers and five sisters, named Edward, Lionel, Edmund, William Plantagenet of, Thomas, Isabel, Mary, Margaret, Joan and Blanche.  He died in Leicester Castle, Leicestershire, England.  He was buried in St. Paul's Cathedral, London, Middlesex, England.


John's first family with Blanche Plantagenet

‌John and Blanche were married in a religious ceremony on May 19th, 1359.  They had a son and two daughters, named IV, Philippa and Elizabeth.


John's second family with Constance of Leon and Castile

‌John and Constance of Leon and were married in a religious ceremony in June 1371.  They had a son and a daughter, named John and Katherine.


John's third family with Cathrine Swynford de Roelt

They had three sons and a daughter, named John, Henry, Thomas and Joan.
