III was born on August 5th, 1201 in Läeon, Spain.  III's father was Alfonso IX Fernandez and his mother was Queen of Castile Berenguela.  His paternal grandparents were Fernando II Alfonsez and Urraca De Portugal; his maternal grandparents were Alphonso VIII 'the Good' Sanchez and Eleanor Plantagenet. He had a brother and three sisters, named Alfonse, Princess of Castile and Läeon, Princess of Castile and Läeon and Princess of Castile and Läeon.  He was the third oldest of the five children. He had five half-brothers and six half-sisters, named Prince of Läeon, Martin Alfonso, Mayor Arias, Rodrigo Alfonso, Pedro Alfonso, Princess of Läeon, Princess of Läeon, Maria, Urracca Alfonso, Teresa Alfonso and Urraca Alfonsez.  He died at the age of 50 on May 30th, 1252 in Sevilla, Spain.


III's first family with Beatrice Elisabeth von Hohenstaufen

‌III and Beatrice Elisabeth were married in a religious ceremony on November 30th, 1219 in Burgos, Spain.  They had seven sons and three daughters, named Alfonso X "El, Fadrique, Enrique, Felipe, Sancho, Manuel of, Fernando, Leonor, Berenquela and Maria.

They had four sons and a daughter, named Comte d'Aumale and Ponthieu, Luis of, Simon of, Juan of and Lady Eleanor of.
