Gilbert de Clare (8th Earl of Gloucester) 
Gilbert was born in 1291. Gilbert's father was Gilbert de Clare (7th Earl of Gloucester) and his mother was Joan Plantagenet (Joan of Acre). His paternal grandparents were Richard de Clare (6th Earl of Gloucester) and Maud de Lacy; his maternal grandparents were Edward I “Longshanks” Plantagenet (King of England) and Eleanor of Castile. He had a sister named Eleanor. He had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named Thomas, Isabella and Elizabeth. He died at the age of 23 in 1314.General Notes
