John, known as Lackland, was born in 1160. Lackland's father was Henry II  “Curmantle” (King of England) and his mother was Eleanor of Aquitaine (also m. K Louis VII).  His paternal grandparents were Geoffrey V Plantagenet (Count of Anjou) and Matilda (Holy Roman Empress). He had four brothers and three sisters, named William, Henry, Coeur de Lion, Geoffrey, Matilda, Eleanor and Joan. He had three half-brothers named Geoffrey, Morgan and William.  He died at the age of 56 in 1216.
