John George Mottley

John George was born on October 29th, 1898 in 1 Booth's Yard, Idle, Bradford, W Yorkshire.¹ John George's father was William Thomas Motley and his mother was Sarah Elizabeth Ickeringill. His paternal grandparents were Charles Motley and Maria Elizabeth Smith; his maternal grandparents were John Ickeringill and Martha Smith. He had five brothers and four sisters, named William, George, Herbert, Leslie, Arthur, Wilhelmina (Mayna), Lilian, Martha and Edith Eleanor. He is the second oldest of the ten children.
