George was born on October 25th, 1902 in 6 Dockfield, Windhill, Shipley.1   George's father was William Thomas Motley and his mother was Sarah Elizabeth Ickeringill.  His paternal grandparents were Charles Motley and Maria Elizabeth Smith; his maternal grandparents were John Ickeringill and Martha Smith. He had five brothers and four sisters, named John George, William, Herbert, Leslie, Arthur, Wilhelmina (Mayna), Lilian, Martha and Edith Eleanor.  He was the fifth oldest of the ten children. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Charles, John and Emily.  He died in County Cork, Ireland, of gunshot wounds.  He was buried on January 18th, 1927 in Plot F470, Nab Wood Cemetery, Bingley: Plot F470.2 2
