Barentje was born in September 1734 and her baptism took place on September 26th, 1734 in Harderwijk.1  Barentje's father was Samuel Baltuszn Schaftenaar and her mother was Harmpje Barentsdr N.N..  Her paternal grandparents were Balthasar Schaffner and Margaretha Mueller; her maternal grandparents were Berend Claeszn N.N. and Bijland Gijsbertsdr N.N.. She had four brothers and seven sisters, named Baltus, Berent, Bijland Samuelszn, Gijsebert, Aaltje, Sijbille, Barentijen, Anna Catharina, Anna Catharina, Stijntje Samuelsdr and Steijntje Samuelsdr.  She was the tenth oldest of the twelve children.  She died at the age of 43 in June 1778.  The funeral took place on June 19th, 1778 in Harderwijk.1 1
