Hermannus was born in July 1780 in Kamerik and his baptism took place there on July 2nd, 1780.1  Hermannus' father was Cornelis Pieterszn de Haan and his mother was Hilletje Jansdr van Vliet.  His paternal grandparents were Pieter Corneliszn de Haan and Aagje Jansdr van Rossum; his maternal grandfather was Jan Hermenszn van Vliet and his maternal grandmother is Jannigje Willemsdr Bekker. He had three brothers and ten sisters, named Pieter, Jan, Tijmen, Jannigje, Aagje, Claartje, Marrigje, Neeltje Cornelisdr, Hanna, Grietje, Willemtje, Emmerensje and Elizabeth.  He was the youngest of the fourteen children.  He died at the age of 79 on August 8th, 1859 in Woerden.
