Edward's father was John William Jameson and his mother was Jessie Carmichael. His maternal grandparents were James Carmichael and Agnes Stevenson. He had two brothers and three sisters, named William, Fredrick, Annie, Mary and Elizabeth. He was the third oldest of the six children. He died at the age of 78 on January 8th, 1981 in Newcastle upon Tyne.³
