Joan was born in 1272 in Acre, Hazafon, Palestine.  Joan's father was Edward I Plantagenet and her mother was Eleanor of Castile.  Her paternal grandparents were Henry III Plantagenet and Eleanor Berenger De Provence; her maternal grandparents were Fernando III of Castile and Jeanne De Dammartin. She had five brothers and seven sisters, named John, Henry, Alphonso, Berengaria, Edward II, Eleanor, Isabel, Mary, Alice, Elizabeth, Beatrice and Blanche.  She was the fourth oldest of the thirteen children. She had a half-brother named Edmund.  She died at the age of 35 on April 23rd, 1307 in Clare, Suffolk, England.


Joan's first family with Gilbert De Clare

‌Joan and Gilbert were married in a religious ceremony on April 30th, 1290.  They had three daughters named Alianor, Margaret and Elizabeth.


Joan's second family with Ralph De Monthermer

They had a son and a daughter, named Thomas and Mary.
