William Barrett Travis Allen 
William Barrett Travis was born on November 4th, 1835 in Republic of Texas,Austin Co. Texas. William Barrett Travis' father was James Bud Allen and his mother was Nancy McNutt. His paternal grandparents were Martin C. Allen and Elizabeth Vice; his maternal grandparents were Robert Blaine ,Major McNutt and Mary Polly Jackson. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Benjamin Bud, Joseph Warren, Mary Elizabeth, Martha Matilda, Louisa and Eliza Jane. He had a half-brother named Winfield Scott. He died at the age of 49 on July 11th, 1885 in Austin Co. Texas. He was buried in McNutt-Allen Cemetery,Williamson Co.,Texas.General Notes
James Bud Allen was a friend of William Barret Travis of the Alamo. Travis was their lawyer and had stayed in the Allen inn at Eight Mile. This fact is found the Travis Papers. James first son was born after Texas had won her independence from Mexico. And he wanted to remember his friend by naming his son after Travis. This tradition has been passed down in several family lines of James and Nancy Allen children. WBT Allen named two sons with the Travis name. The first was Travis Bud, the namesake of James Bud his father . This young man died as a child. Then his last and only other son was named for his Grandfather Martin B.. Allen . One of the Texas Old Three Hundred-- the first group to come to Texas with Stephen B Austin. His name was Martin Travis Allen. The Traditions picks up again with Cody Travis Franke. Cody is the 5th generation down the line. Martin Travis Allen, Doris Eugena Allen Underwood -his daughter-, Lillie LaNora Underwood Franke - her daughter-, Michael Dwain Franke -her son-, and Cody Travis Franke -his son. On a personal note: Lillie always regretted not naming one of her two sons with the tradition name. She and her mother felt great joy when Michael named his son Cody Travis. As a point of interest Michaels first son middle name is James -again the family namesake connection. This sons name is Matthew James Franke. Michael's Daughter Kristine Nicole falls on Jan. 28. this is the birth date of Ida Allen- the first Daughter of WBT Allen. It is a hope of these three children Grandmother Lillie LaNora Underwood Franke that they will follow the tradition of naming their children with the Travis namesake.
