Thomas was born on September 22nd, 1373 in Essendine, Rurland. Thomas' father was Edward le Despencer and his mother was Elizabeth de Burghersh. His paternal grandparents were Edward le Despencer and Anne de Ferrers; his maternal grandparents were Bartholomew de Burghersh and Cicely de Weyland. He had a brother and four sisters, named Hugh, Cicely, Anne, Margaret and Elizabeth. He was the youngest of the six children. He died in Bristol, Gloucester, England.
