Maud was born in Derbyshire, England.  Maud's father was William III de Ferrers and her mother was Sibyl Marshal.  Her paternal grandparents were William II de Ferrers and Agnes de Keveliock of Chester; her maternal grandparents were William the Protector Marshal and Isabel Fitz Richard Strongbow de Clare. She had six sisters named Alianore, Agnes, Isabel, Jean, Sybil and Agatha. She had two half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Robert, William IV, Agnes, Margaret (Joane), Berta and Elizabeth.


Maud's first family with William le Forte de Fortibus de Vivonia

‌Maud and William le Forte de Fortibus were married in a religious ceremony on July 30th, 1248.  They had four daughters named Joan, Sibyl, Mabel and Cecilia (Cicely).
