Margaret (Joane) was born about 1252 in Ilfracombe, Cornwall.  Margaret (Joane)'s father was William III de Ferrers and her mother was Margaret de Quincy.  Her paternal grandparents were William II de Ferrers and Agnes de Keveliock of Chester; her maternal grandparents were Roger de Quincy and Helen MacDonald de Galloway. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Robert, William IV, Agnes, Berta and Elizabeth. She had seven half-sisters named Alianore, Agnes, Isabel, Jean, Sybil, Agatha and Maud.  She was buried in St. Augustine's Abbey, Bristol, Gloucestershire, England.


Margaret (Joane)'s family with Thomas the Wise de Berkeley

‌Margaret (Joane) and Thomas the Wise were married in a religious ceremony about 1270.  They had four sons and three daughters, named James, John, Thomas, Maurice the Magnanimous, Alice, Isabel and Margaret.
