James the Just was born about 1394 in Raglan, Monmouth.  James the Just's father was James the Welshman de Berkeley and his mother was Elizabeth Bluet.  His paternal grandparents were Maurice the Valiant de Berkeley and Elizabeth le Despencer; his maternal grandfather is John Bluet.  He was an only child.  He died in November 1463 in Berkeley Castle, Gloucestershire, England.  He was buried in St. Mary's Berkeley, Berkeley, Gloucestershire, England.

James the Just's third family with Isabel de Mowbray

‌James the Just and Isabel were married in a religious ceremony in 1423.  They had four sons and three daughters, named William the Wastall, Maurice, James, Thomas, Alice, Elizabeth and Isabel.
