Maurice the Valiant was born in 1330. Maurice the Valiant's father was Thomas the Rich de Berkeley and his mother was Margaret de Mortimer. His paternal grandparents were Maurice the Magnanimous de Berkeley and Eva la Zouche; his maternal grandparents were Roger de Mortimer and Joan de Geneville. He had a sister named Joan. He had four half-brothers named Thomas, Maurice, Edmund and John. He died at the age of 38 on June 8th, 1368 in Berkeley Castle.
