Isabel was born in Thetford, Norfolk, England.  Isabel's father was Hugh Bigod and her mother was Maud Marshal.  Her paternal grandfather was Roger de Bigod and her paternal grandmother is Ida (Isabel) Plantagenet of Norfolk; her maternal grandparents were William the Protector Marshal and Isabel Fitz Richard Strongbow de Clare. She had four brothers named Ralph, Roger, Simon and Hugh. She had a half-brother and a half-sister, named John and Isabel.  She died in 1239.


Isabel's first family with Gilbert de Lacy

‌Isabel and Gilbert were married in a religious ceremony before 1226.  They had a son and two daughters, named Walter, Margery and Maud.


Isabel's second family with John FitzGeoffrey of Berkhampstead

‌Isabel and John FitzGeoffrey of were married in a religious ceremony after 1230.  They had two sons and four daughters, named John FitzJohn, Richard, Joan, Aveline, Maud and Isabella.
