Martha Jane Shields 
Martha Jane was born on February 25th, 1849 in Monroe County, Indiana. Martha Jane's father was William Henry Harrison Shields and her mother was Mary Ellen Hudlin. Her paternal grandparents were Joseph Shields and Sarah "Sally" Masterson. She had five brothers and six sisters, named David Thomas, William Taylor, John Wesley, Joseph H., George E., Mary Elizabeth, Sarah Angelina, Lucy A., Julia C., Laura A. and Belle Marie. She was the fourth oldest of the twelve children. She died at the age of 85 in January 1935.General Notes
In 1880, Martha and Phillip were residents of Salt Creek Twp., Monroe
Co., Indiana, at the time of the Census.
