Matthew Bradbury was born in 1873 in Emerald Hill. Matthew Bradbury's father was Peter Robert CHALLEN and his mother was Florence Sharp PEARSON.  His paternal grandparents were Charles William CHALLEN and Jane MERRETT. He had six brothers and six sisters, named Robert William, Ernest Blandforth, Richard Linton, Arthur Browning, Oliver Leopold, Benjamin Milton, Florence Elizabeth, Alice Maud, Grace, Emily Jane, Lucy Matilda and Daisy Eunice.  He was the second oldest of the thirteen children.
