Arthur Browning was born in 1884 in Heathcote. Arthur Browning's father was Peter Robert CHALLEN and his mother was Florence Sharp PEARSON.  His paternal grandparents were Charles William CHALLEN and Jane MERRETT. He had six brothers and six sisters, named Robert William, Matthew Bradbury, Ernest Blandforth, Richard Linton, Oliver Leopold, Benjamin Milton, Florence Elizabeth, Alice Maud, Grace, Emily Jane, Lucy Matilda and Daisy Eunice.  He was the fourth youngest of the thirteen children.
