Elsie was born on September 2nd, 1923 in Birkenhead.¹

Elsie's father was Edmund John Wood and her mother was Agnes Douglas Kinnear. Her paternal grandparents were Abraham Wood and Sarah Eddowes. She had a brother and six sisters, named Edmund, Agnes, Sarah, Violet, Elizabeth, Daisy and Martha. She was the youngest of the eight children. She died at the age of 82 in March 2006 in Birkenhead.²
