Robert was born on May 2nd, 1906 in Birkenhead and his baptism took place there on June 17th, 1906.1 2  Robert's father was Richard Sherlock and his mother was Lily Whitehead.  His paternal grandparents were Samuel Sherlock and Lydia Eddowes. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Richard, William, Thomas, Donald, Lily, Mary, Lydia and Dorothy.  He was the oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 46 in January 1953 in Birkenhead.3 



Robert's family with Alice Carey

‌Robert and Alice were married in a civil ceremony in January 1926 in Birkenhead.3  They had two sons and three daughters, named Robert, Ronald, Lilian, Rosemary and Patricia.
