Thomas' father was James Schofield and his mother was Mary Horrocks. His maternal grandparents were John Horrocks and Nancy Mather. He had two brothers and five sisters, named Adam, John, Betty, Ellen, Margaret, Nancy and Sarah. He was the fifth oldest of the eight children. He died at just 13 days old on December 13th, 1841 in Little Bolton. His burial was on December 15th, 1841.
