Thomas or James (1851 census is difficult to read), but compare John Ferguson (at bottom of page) and Tong with Halgh (birthplace), and its clearly a "J", not "T"
James and Mary didnt have their children baptised. Most children died as infants (confirmed by burial records and GRO records naming MMN).
In 1851, James and Mary (43 & 44) were at 11 Back Chapel Street, L.B. with Mary's mother Nancy Horrocks (88), Brother-in-law Charles (34) and Betty and Adam Schofield (19 & 15) who may be his or possibly Mary's brother Charles (as implied by the 1841 census).
