William was born in November 1825 in Breightmet and his baptism took place on January 15th, 1826 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1  William's father was James Rawsthorn and his mother was Mary (Mariann) Ann Mather.  His maternal grandparents were William Mather and Mary Green. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, William, Mary, Mary and Ruth.  He was the third oldest of the six children. He had three half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Richard, John, Samuel, Ellen and Hannah.  He died at 3 months old in February 1826 in Bolton.  His burial was on February 19th, 1826 at St. Peter's (Bolton).2
