Hopley's father was Robert Price and his mother was Mary Brereton. His maternal grandparents were Edward Brereton and Frances Hopley. He had seven brothers and three sisters, named Charles, Robert, Edward, Frank, Percy, Thomas, Herbert, Rhoda, Daisy and Farnces. He was the sixth oldest of the eleven children. He died at the age of 79 on November 9th, 1978 in Wrexham. His burial was in November 1978 in Wrexham.²³
