Patience's father was Rev William Nield and her mother was Martha Buckley. Her maternal grandparents were Benjamin Buckley and Patience (Patricia) Oldham. She had four brothers and three sisters, named William, Arthur, John, Herbert, Annie, Emma and Beatrice. She was the oldest of the eight children. She died at the age of 1 in March 1877 in Audenshaw. Her burial was on March 7th, 1877 in Audenshaw.²
